Wildflower Habitat Meadows and Wildlife RefugesEco Designs specialise in providing a complete service for the creation and management of Wildflower Habitat Meadows and Wildlife Refuges from initial conception through to completion and ongoing management. Eco Designs understand the demanding set of conditions wildflowers need to become established and how different species adapt to different sets of conditions. We will select species of wildflowers that are best suited to each location. We begin each project by taking a holistic
approach from the
outset, starting below the soil looking at drainage and
soil types. Then we will look at the microclimate
of the site referencing this to meteorological
information including data sets for rainfall, temperature and
prevailing winds. We call this our eco-audit. Anywhere can become a home to wildflowers and pockets of local greenspace are ideal. Even the smallest urban area can provide a refuge to some of our most threatened wildflowers. Good examples of suitable locations include school and hospital grounds, residential homes, business parks, caravan parks, roadside verges, roundabouts and front and back gardens. UK honeybees have declined by 50% in 40 years and our butterflies and moths are also disappearing. Wildflower planting is a really cost-effective way to increase biodiversity and bring nature closer to you by attracting wildlife including birds and pollinating insects. Latest Update Did you know that in the UK one in five wildflowers is threatened with extinction? Join our crusade to plant more wildflowers and Contact Us today. |
